I returned from my trip to Paris with more than a belly full of good food, cheap wine, and a bag full of beauty products. My skin was hating life and it was letting me know in every way possible; breakouts, blocked pores, irritated red patches, and nasty blemishes. When I returned home I vowed to deal with the state of my skin as swiftly as possible, banishing the blemishes as quickly as they had arrived.

The weather in Paris was erratic; we experienced high levels of humidity, sweltering summer days, overcast light showers, and even a huge thunderstorm that left us drenched from head to toe. High humidity can be extremely disruptive to the skin, causing blocked pores, spots, and breakouts. Equally, low humidity can cause the skin to become dry, dull, and tight. High levels of air pollution interferes with the skin's ability to regulate moisture levels resulting in irritation and redness.

My skin was suffering. I usually have a 'normal' complexion - no oil, no dryness, and rarely a pimple - but the constant changing of humidity levels resulted in my skin becoming blocked, causing breakouts and oily patches. The contaminants from air pollution meant my skin was becoming imbalanced, displaying signs of irritation.

For the first three days after returning from Paris I followed a rigid skin care routine. I swiped Bioderma Sébium H20 all over my ruined face. Bioderma Sébium H20 is specifically formulated for oily skin, cleansing and regulating secretion (oh, gross) by gently removing excess sebum. REN Micro Polish Cleanser gives a second, deeper cleanse and provides gentle exfoliation. After using this product my skin always feels softer and instantly looks brighter, but considering Paris left it feeling ravished I felt I needed an extra step - the LUSH Oatifix Fresh Face Mask. This dreamy smelling face mask for sensitive, delicate skin made from oats, almonds, and bananas leaves the skin feeling completely nourished.

Once the skin is thoroughly cleansed, exfoliated, and plumped back to its softer self, a light toner is applied - Caudalie Beauty Elixir - followed by an intensely rich moisturiser - Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask - helping the skin to rehydrate. This rich, creamy moisturiser smells divine and soothes the skin overnight. As a final step a light application of Homeoplasmine to aid dry lips.

After three days my skin was pretty much back to normal (aside from a couple of residual, yet-to-fade marks). No more oily patches, redness, or breakouts. This wicked combination of products used and applied religiously restored my skin back to 'normal' and stopped me from freaking out.
