How Long Can I Get Away With Not Brushing My Hair?

I've decided I don't want to brush my hair anymore and nobody is going to make me.

You know how "day two" hair is always better than "just washed" hair? Well my hair gets better as the days go on. It really goes for it. If I so much as put a brush near my head my hair drops straight so it's best left to its own devices. This is day four and it pretty much reached perfection.

How long before this becomes unacceptable?

Your hair looks so nice but oh my god! How can you face the knotty-ness afterwards, i think my hair gets so damaged when I brush it (or comb in the shower) if it's really knotty and even left for a day! Does your fringe not get greasy? If i leave my hair for more than a day I have to wash my fringe! How do you combat knotty hair/stopping it getting damaged?

Hmmm, depends really! Depends how you sleep on your hair, do you kinda flip it all on top of the pillow before you lie down or do you lie on top of it? Because my husband's got long hair and the knots he manages to get in there are unbelievable! Of course, he never brushes his hair, so when he finds a especially bad knot he cries for help and asks me to brush it for him. Meaning: my husband never brushes his hair, it only gets brushes when I do it for him, like once a month! LOL Last time I had to give him a hair cut because there was no way that big ass knot was coming off just with brushing. I don't brush my hair every day either, but I make sure I also don't sleep on it! xx

You are so lucky!! You just have to breathe on my hair and it goes into a knotted mess :(

I also have to comb through my hair in the shower when it's covered in conditioner ... but I only use my fingers :)

haha. my hair turns into a matted mess if i don't comb it or brush it when wet. pretty grim! If I don't brush it for a few days there is knots that almost have to be cut out. :(

  6. My hair is naturally curly, but otherwise it's quite the same. I usually only wash it once or twice a week and I never brush it between washes. Plus it's so dry (that's my biggest problem) that it doesn't really get greasy. It's great.

In my eyes it's never unacceptable. I only just bought a brush a few weeks ago so that when I dry my hair I can blow dry it straight but before then I never brushed it, only a quick comb through when damp. When I still had long hair i would tie it loosely before bed and I think that helped it not get knotty, though I only did that for fear of breathing my hair in while I slept!

Where is your jumper from? It looks like what I've been looking for!

  8. I sleep on my hair. I roll around on it. I wake up and it's a total mess but I still don't brush it. My hair never gets super tangled or knotted. If I brush it the waves fall out. I usually just shake my head and I'm done. I'll comb my fringe but that's about it.

  9. I think my hair really enjoys not being brushed. It has a nice shape and crazy waves. I'm into it.

  10. SNAP. I only wash it when it's noticeably dirty.
My hair is dry from all the heat styling I used to put it through. Since I've dropped that and picked up some nourishing products it's looking pretty good. Do you have any hair product recommendations since we have very similar hair?

  11. GOOD because nobody is going to convince me that I need to brush my hair.
I don't even bother tying it up when I'm asleep, I just let it go wild.

My jumper is from Primark. I think they have them in three colours. SUPER comfy. I bought mine two sizes bigger and wear it as a dress. They are long though so if you're not into that I'd suggest Monki. I picked up a wicked black one from there a couple of weeks ago.

  12. I like Redken's All Soft a lot and I've also been enjoying Ojon's Damage Reverse Instant Restorative Hair Serum. I got a sample of it at Sephora in December and I still have some left since I only use it a couple of times a week. I usually make my own hair masks with warm coconut oil and honey.

Pretty much indefinitely (depending on your hair type I suppose). I recently cut my hair pretty short, but before that I only used to brush it before I got in the shower to wash it - even when it was really long.

  14. I stopped brushing my hair, but now that I'm trying to get it to grow I have started using my tangle teezer regularly. I think it depends on what your hair needs.
I never agree with one rule for everyone in regards hair. People always disgusted that I only wash my hair once a week, but if I wash it anymore, my hair becomes dry and brittle.

  16. The only time I brush my hair is the second before I wash it and I only wash my hair once a week. It's a mix of curly/wavy and if a brush comes near it, it just turns into a frizzy mess! My hair also gets better as the days go on, it seems to go curlier and less frizzy :) xx

I think if you can get away with not brushing your hair and apparently you can because it looks gorgeous in this picture than go for it. My hair needs to be brushed multiple times throughout the day, brushing for me helps tame frizz and gives it body (weird, I know) i only wash my hair 3 times a week (any less than that and i get way to greasy , hate dry shampoos)and i only use Wen cleansing conditioner on my hair both to wash and as a leave in conditioner (makes my frizz 99.9% disappear), plus i don't own any heat appliances.
