Self-care is incredibly important in taking care of ourselves in a healthy way and making sure we're not burnt out or over worked. Self-care is as much about staying active as it is about relaxing. A well cared for body and mind is productive and happy.
I typically enjoy taking a break from work by getting out in the open and exploring museums or the city. But that can be pretty tiring in itself especially if I've had a long week in the studio, sometimes I just want to chill out indoors doing nothing.
A good book, hot bath surrounded by candles, and beauty treatments is a luxury I don't indulge in often yet it never fails to restore the work/life balance. For me it's like hitting a reset button, I get the chance to unwind and let my mind wander for a bit while investing time in caring for my body.
Procrastination is helpful for creative thinking, so taking time out for a little self-care doesn't have to be so guilt-inducing. Procrastination provides a little distance between you and a problem, allowing you to approach an idea or task with a fresh approach and renewed enthusiasm.
