Goals for 2015: A Six Month Update

Six months can change a lot and looking back on my goals for 2015, it’s surprising how things have turned out.

BUSINESS
Original Goals:

» Hit financial, mailing list, and social media targets
» Photograph a lookbook
» Gain more international stockists
» Introduce a new collection

My business has undergone a lot of changes in the past few months, which in turn has had a major effect on my original goals. I’m more focused on altering the way the business is run and changing marketing techniques.

While the business is on track for hitting financial, mailing list, and social media targets, my goals for photographing a lookbook and gaining more international stockists have fallen by the wayside. The lookbook is no longer a priority like it once was - it's likely to happen, just not this year - and although Oh My Clumsy Heart has gained several new stockists all of them remain within the UK.

One of the changes that wasn't on my original goal list, was the switch to seasonal marketing, which is a huge deal as it changes the way the business runs. I also refreshed the shop’s branding and focused more on promotion such as using Pinterest and Snapchat in a more pro-active way. But I've also decided to take a more relaxed approached to social media overall - things don't always needs to be so serious and structured, y'know?

A new collection is being launched for Autumn/Winter 2015 and I'm super excited to share it with you all very soon. Exclusive previews will be shared next month, join the list to get involved.

Revised Goals:

» Hit financial, mailing list, and social media targets
» Implement seasonal marketing
» Introduce a new collection
» Set the studio up as a "by appointment only" shop

BLOGGING
Original Goals:

» Adjust the content balance
» Become a resource
» Write a series of eBooks

Again, just like my business goals, a lot can change in six months. I definitely feel more confident and comfortable with the content balance on this blog although I believe it will always be an ongoing process.

My goals for “becoming a resource” and “writing a series of eBooks” have evolved into something else. I've discovered a new way to move forward with blogging. I still want to write content for fledgling creative start-ups, although I’m no longer so keen on making it such a “thing” on the blog. My approach has changed and I’m now more focused on connecting and sharing with other creatives rather than trying to teach or become a resource for them. I'm keen on finishing that eBook, I’m just more preoccupied with other things right now like vlogging weekly and other creative side projects.

Revised Goals:

» Keep experimenting with content
» Vlog weekly

PERSONAL
Original Goals:

» Do yoga every day
» Travel more

I now realise the importance of making goals realistic. “Do yoga every day” was never a realistic goal; I need to find room in my schedule where I can build a habit of doing yoga regularly and then consider making it an every day thing. I literally haven't done yoga at all - shameful.

While I failed massively at one personal goal, I’m really excelling at the other. I've travelled to Japan and Germany plus I regularly make time for day trips and exploring the city I live in. I'm not sure whether I'm going to manage to squeeze in another trip abroad before the end of the year (I hope so!) but even if I don't, I'll continue to make time for local day trips.

Revised Goals:

» Travel more
» Buy workout gear
» Make time for yoga (at least) once a week
