The importance of self-care is real; consciously making the effort to care for our body and mind is key to being happy, productive, and content but it's also important to encourage others to invest in their own well-being.
Self-care is about treating ourselves kindly by creating a ritual of simple tasks that radically change our mood. The meaning of self-care is different for everyone and the rituals we choose to perform will vary. I like to sit quietly and read, go for a long walk, or brunch with friends; whatever you choose to do, performing these small rituals of self-care give us back the control we need to guide us when we're experiencing mental or physical stress. Taking a moment to invest in self-care helps restore our positivity and outlook.
Self-care boxes are a really lovely way of passing on the message and reminding others about taking time out to care for their well-being. A simple box of specially chosen objects to help release those "feel good" chemicals in your brain is a beautiful gift that can help, inspire, and comfort. I am definitely going to be creating my own DIY self-care boxes to send to friends and family with personal items I know they will love, hopefully encouraging them to take a little time out for themselves once in a while.
