Fuerteventura is one of Spain's Canary islands, which sits in the Atlantic Ocean off the coast of Morocco. The beautiful white-sand beaches, rugged cliffs, and year-round sunshine makes it an ideal place to escape to when England starts getting cold in the winter. Thanks to Thomas Cook Airlines, I got to experience just how wonderful this little island really is.
I spent five days with six bloggers - Lucy, Kate, Yaya and Lloyd, Laila, and Dannii. We spent an entire day on a boat sailing around Los Lobos, scuba diving and taking underwater photographs; the water was so crystal clear it was breathtaking. We marveled at the great expanse of sand dunes, went on a night beach walk, visited a goat farm (with a very sassy camel), watched the sunset on the coastline, explored the local villages and towns, and spent the entire time relishing the glorious winter sunshine.
Fuerteventura is a beautiful island, the perfect place to escape to for a quiet respite surrounded by gorgeous landscapes, eternal sunshine, and stunning lagoons. Despite the Canary Islands being known for their holiday resorts, Fuerteventura offers a lot more to discover: local culture, cathedrals and museums, Carnival celebrations, and local traditions like the impressive Kite Festival and artisan markets.
